Joshua David was born in the Pacific Northwest and raised on a remote apple orchard at the edge of Devil’s Backbone in Washington State. The countryside and surrounding wilderness would have heavy influence on him and serve as the roots of both his music and writing.
Joshua conceived of the concept for the antlered ape story while writing/recording what would become The Antlered Ape – A Guitar and Piano Demo in 2015. The more fleshed out Part II, The Antlered Ape EP, was recorded circa 2019. Folks seemed to like the concept story that was intended to accompany the instrumental music as much as the music itself. And so, between October of 2023 and April of 2024, he fleshed that part out too, writing the first draft of a novel. It’s since been revised and revised again, and will likely continue to be. It’s a long process.
The music and the story go hand in hand, each influencing the other. Joshua is currently seeking representation for THE ANTLERED APE novel, and in time, dear pals, you will have THE ANTLERED APE book to hold in your hands and feast your hungry eyes upon.
